Positive Thinking | Top 4 Positive & Inspiring Journals

Staying positive is something we all have trouble with, whether we're suffering from a mental illness or we're just stressed with everyday life. A big thing for me is writing stuff down. I am a writer, so this doesn't sound that surprising, but I find because I write so much anyway I actually slack off quite a lot when it comes to writing a journal. So, to make it a little easier for myself, I invest in a lot of helpful journals that both inspire me and make me a little happier. Here are some of my favourites!

Q&A A Day

This is by far one of my favourite journals. With the Q&A 5 year journal, you get a question a day. Below each question there are 5 sections to write in.

Now, the intended way to use this is to answer every question for a year and then start again answering the same questions the next year, but you can mix it up however you like. It's a great way to give the future you a clearer idea of where your mind and your life was at on that specific day in that specific year. They're not all deep life changing questions either, there are easy ones thrown in there too to make it fun!

The success of the Q&A journal has been phenomenal, so much so that it has branched out into so many more Q&A journals for different types of people. So there really is something for everyone!

Do One Thing Every Day

Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You caught my eye one day and I bought one for Emma, a good friend of mine and an incredibly talented designer, as I knew she'd love both the design and the purpose of the journal.

Similar to the Q&A journal, there are no strict rules as to when you write in it, so it could last a lifetime. The main purpose, is to really push yourself - but in the most positive and personal ways possible. It's chock full of beautiful quotes and sections for you to focus on a specific thing you did that day.

During my research for this post I actually discovered there's a second journal in this series due to be released in October 2015, called Do One Thing Every Day That Inspires You. Now this sounds, well, less scary than the other, and I think this is something all creative people would benefit from.

The Happiness Planner

The Happiness Planner. Well, what can I say? I know, I know, the trick with these journals is that they're too damn beautiful, how are you able to resist buying all of them? Well, I'm not one to help you there, I'm probably going to go on a journal shopping spree soon.

The thing I love about the Happiness Planner is you can do exactly that - plan your happiness! This may seem a little strange to some, but with a life that revolves around working, paying bills, mondays, etc, it's hard to actually focus and spend time on the things that make you happy, and you can quickly fall in to a slump.

The Happiness Planner is a 100 day journey to happiness. 365 days is a long time to focus on, and the truth is it's easier to feel more positive about life when you're thinking about it in terms of the present and short term, rather than long term. The future is almost impossible to predict and this can quickly become a weight of negativity. The Happiness Planner is packed with questions and guides that help you become a happier and more positive person.

The Sketchbook Project Journal

Writing, for some, can be a really tiring task, and it can have the reverse effect if you can't think of anything positive to write! The Sketchbook Project Journal is a little different to your average journal.

It all started with The Sketchbook Project. You get a sketchbook, fill it with illustrations, writing, photography - whatever you love to do - once you are done, you mail it back to Brooklyn Art Library. Every book submitted joins the collection as part of The Sketchbook Project exhibition. So, not only are you actively doing something which has a positive outcome on your life, but your work also becomes part of an exhibition! Great, huh?
