Hannah Davies’ owl is colourful and appealing. The change in depth of each colour used adds definition to each section. Even though her drawings are simplistic in some ways, they are bursting with life with the patterns that are repeated throughout.
I love the composition and content of this image. It perfectly depicts the hustle and bustle of London. It is brimming with detail and energy. In every section of the art work, there is something going on. And even though it is bursting with life, the relaxing river Thames that runs flows throughout brings unity to the illustration.
Hannah Davies has created a variety of commissions for many design companies. Below are some examples.
This illustration is about hair and health and was designed for the London Magazine’s beauty page. This just shows how good Hannah is at filling an entire page with pattern, and exactly how well it works!
The fox was done for ‘art therapy colouring book’ (colouring for grown-ups). This, according to Hannah’s website, will be out yearly. It is to be published by Buster books. It is out now and is definitely a great way to get creative.
I hope you’ve enjoyed exploring the work of Hannah Davies with me. There are plenty more of her illustrations to admire on her website and through clicking on any of the links below.
