The above illustration is part of a collection called ‘pastel gifs’. I may be drawn to this one the most in that I am a Ma Bicyclette girl who also happens to be a cat lover :D Although I also love the gentle and pretty colour scheme.
This is from Charlotte’s collection of ‘paper food’. I love art of all kinds, especially when it is done in an extra imaginative and unique style. I see myself as quite a messy person when it comes to art so I have added admiration for anyone who can create something that’s so neat and intricate. You can tell that this and the below paper sculptures have been made with so much care.
I love that Charlotte has gone very much down the dessert theme in a lot of this series, making them even more appealing to the eye as far as I am concerned. The pretty floral daisies provide extra charm.
And who doesn’t love a fab ice lolly? This illustration makes the summer feel that little bit closer. I like the fact that with Charlotte’s paper sculptures, the colour palette is kept modest.
She also has a talent for creating patterns (something which you will know that I love if you have been following Ma Bicyclette’s Inspiring Artists series).
This pattern was designed by Charlotte for a mini website for ‘My Little Paris’. It goes to show that her illustrations even come to life with just the use of line. This flourishes without the need for colour.
I love this wallpaper design. It is so simple yet effective. I love the pretty bunting that adorns many of the houses.
Charlotte even turns her hand to embroidery. This is one of the many things I appreciate about the work of Charlotte Smith. She is so versatile in what she can achieve creatively. I have tried my best to show you the pieces of work of hers that I admire the most, but to be truthful this is just scratching the surface. If you have been inspired to delve further into her work then I definitely encourage you to do so. You can take a look at many more of her beautiful creations by clicking on the links below.
