Recently, a few of the Bicyclette Gang and I decided to go for a meal somewhere we'd never been before to celebrate everything that was going on in our lives and to wish me luck in my new career. After a week of doing some research we settled on The Alchemist.
The cocktail menu was to die for and if you sign up online you get 25% off of food the next time you go, so we took advantage of this and went all out!
Feeling pressured to make a quick decision on drinks, Cristina and I got The Mad Hatter Does Colombia. I didn't actually look at what was in the drink other than Woodford Reserve which sold it to me, but it involved coffee beans and I'm not a coffee drinker. I also didn't look at how much it cost (£18.50 to share between 2) but we decided to go for it as it was a one off and oh my was it a brilliant decision! Not only was the preparation an incredible display but the drink itself was delicious!
Rachel had the fajitas - Served with sautéed peppers and onions on a hot skillet, with warm tortillas, guacamole, sour cream and tomato salsa.
Cristina had the Moroccan Spiced Lamb Tagine with cous cous.
Stephanie had the Thai Red Curry...
I had the vegetable stir fry and it was possibly the tastiest stir fry I have ever eaten. My mouth is watering just thinking about it...
Stephanie had the Marshmallow Daiquiri...
Rachel had the Passion Fruit and Lychee Meringue Martini...
Rachel, Stephanie and I all had the giant profiterole.
Cristina had the Affogato which was a "smoking combination of vanilla ice cream, Amaretto and ristretto".
All the food surpassed our expectations but the thing that makes The Alchemist so special is the theme of the whole place. The presentation with the food and drinks all ties in with the alchemy theme and it's an exciting place to celebrate something! We'll definitely be visiting again!
