Buy Vintage | Stockport Vintage Village

One lazy Sunday morning a couple of weeks ago, when I had woken up too late to make a visit to my local carboot worthwhile, I realised that it was in fact the 2nd Sunday of the month, and so the Stockport Vintage Village would be in full swing! (and as it runs from 10am to 4pm, it's perfect for those Sundays when you allow yourself to have a good lie in!)

I hadn't been before, but had read about it over on A Thrifty Mrs and wanted to have a nosey! It's only 10 minutes from where I live, so I hopped in the car and drove to Stockport. I drove to the ASDA on Warren Street, and parked in their car park. For some reason Stockport make you pay for practically ALL their carparks, including ASDA, but it's only £1 for 2 hours, and if you spend £5 in ASDA you get that back. I had some food shopping to do, so everything was hunky dory. From the car park you can walk through TK Maxx and the market hall where the pop up 'village' takes place is right in front of you.

If you want to take the bus or train in, or fancy trying out somewhere else to park, all the transport details are here.

The hall is filled to the brim with isles of vintage stalls, all jam packed with all kinds of vintage delights from vintage clothing & accessories (both make and female) to homewares, collectables and crafts!

My purse strings were feeling a little tight after a rather indulgent Friday & Saturday, so I was very well behaved and only bought one belt (which was a bargain at just £1). There is so much to see though that it isn't the kind of place you feel you necessarily have to spend money at (apart from the small £1 entrance fee). Think of it more as a vintage museum, and you can spend a good while looking at the lovely tea sets and kitsch bits and bobs and wondering what your grandparent's houses might have looked like 50 years ago!

If you get peckish, you will find food and hot drinks in the tents outside, and if you get your timings right, there is sometimes some vintage inspired entertainment too! So next time you find yourself at a loose end on the 2nd Sunday of the month, take a trip to Stockport and find yourself some vintage goodness!
