Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones

Recently I've been seeing a lot of very nice sticks and stones, in jewellery, design and art.
So what's this trend all about? Colour, celebrating our earthly treasures and having fun of course!

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Painted sticks by Ginette Lapalme

Ginette Lapalme has turned her 'magic sticks' into some handy stickers.
Where would you stick your stick stickers?!

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Tree bed by Shawn Lovell

This tree bed by Shawn Lovell definately brings the outside in!
Unfortunately it is made from metal, not actual trees, but it is too good not to include in this blog post!

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Painted stones by Riverluna

Lovely painted stones by River Luna.
Take a look at her etsy shop, she has some really nice illustrations in there!

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Talking stick by Laura Gill

Despite the name, Laura Gill's talking sticks do not actually talk. Her sticks are designed so that the person holding the stick is the only one able to talk until the stick is handed to the next person and then it would be their turn to talk. These cheeky sticks promote communication as a means for problem solving. Isn't that a clever stick?

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Pebble Ring by Aiden Spencer

I don't think I would be forgiven if I didn't include Aiden Spencer's pebble rings! He has a whole collection of beach inspired jewellery, which you should totally check out!

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - branch key rack tutorial

Here's a great tutorial for turning your own stick into a very useful key rack.
No more misplaced keys for us! Wahoo!

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - birch wood candle holder Anna Ornberg Furnishing Naturally

Anna Ă–rnberg's book 'Furnishing Naturally' has a whole chapter dedicated to using birch wood to decorate your home.

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Stone house on a Portuguese mountain

If decorating your house with sticks and stones isn't enough, how about having your house inside a stone?!
This house is on a Portuguese mountain, and apparently inside you will find a fireplace and a swimming pool carved out of one of the large rocks. Not bad hey?

Ma Bicyclette: Design Inspiration | Sticks & Stones - Painted stones by Natasha Newton

And to finish this 'sticks and stones' blog post off; here are some more painted stones by Natasha Newton.
Next time I go to the beach, I might have to take some paints and paint brushes with me!

Do you know of any interesting sticks and stones that I have missed?!
