Dot to Dot is a city based festival that started in Nottingham in 2005. In that time it has expanded over a few cities, one of them being Manchester.
The concept of Dot to Dot is the same as any festival, numerous bands playing in different parts of a specific area. Each person has a wristband that allows them to wander between these areas and therefore can watch whichever bands tickle their fancy! The only difference with Dot to Dot is, this isn't a field, there aren't any tents, but instead there's the city life and the real atmosphere of permanent gig venues.
2012 Dot to Dot takes place in Bristol on the 2nd June, Nottingham on the 3rd but with us being a Lancashire/Yorkshire based blog we are mostly interested with the final day in Manchester which takes place on Monday the 4th. Tickets are currently still on sale at £20 a pop, and the chosen venues are The Deaf Institute, Zoo, Joshua Brooks, Sound Control and HMV Ritz all of which are within 9 minutes walking distance from each other.
The first band to kick off the festival will be Embers at Sound Control Club at 13:15pm and closing the night at 3am will be Bondax.
Other musicians that are playing are Lucy Rose, Willy Mason and Pulled Apart By Horses!
So what better way to spend a bank holiday than flitting between gigs and seeing your favourite (or potential new favourite) bands? Expect great music and a fantastic atmosphere!
