Places To Visit In York | Me and Mrs Fishers & Sunday Nest

Nestled away on Lord Mayors Walk - just outside of the city walls is this gorgeous little cafe and cake shop meets habidashery shop. The shop and cafe which recently celebrated its first birthday boast an impressive and always delicious looking array of homemade treats.

If you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend the pancakes with dipping sauce and the hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows - well if you're going to be naughty you may as well do it properly.

The moment you walk in the front door you feel as though you've walked into someone's beautifully decorated home. The walls are covered in the prettiest fabric covered embroidery hoops and bunting I have ever seen and there is a sweet mix of farmhouse style and colourful patterned tables, each with its own vintage sugar bowl. Towards the counter and to the left is a little staircase which I urge you to take a peek up. On the first floor you'll discover two more rooms. The first contains a large table for the classes and parties the staff hold there, and the other is an amazing haberdashery shop called Sunday Nest. This tiny room is full to the brim of the most gorgeous fabrics (often including vintage samples, Liberty of London and Cath Kidston), heart shaped buttons, colourful knitting needles and all the sweetest things you could ever wish for, for your homemade needs.

The staff are always ever so helpful and friendly, and always more than willing to lend a hand or offer advice. They're even holding a number of classes in knitting and sewing for kiddos, beginners and the slightly more advanced, see their website for more information and bookings. The food, the atmosphere, the staff, everything about this place (especially the hot chocolate) is a must see the next time you visit York, you'll love it I promise! I have so many super sweet places I cannot wait to share with you. If there are any amazing places you think I should review then be sure to let me know.
